Introduction

Germany, officially known as the Federal Republic of Germany, is a country located in Central Europe. It is the most populous member state of the European Union and is known for its rich history, influential culture, and strong economy. Germany is bordered by nine countries: Denmark, Poland, the Czech Republic, Austria, Switzerland, France, Belgium, Luxembourg, and the Netherlands.

Geography

Germany spans over 357,022 square kilometers and is the sixth largest country in Europe. It is characterized by a variety of landscapes, from the high peaks of the Alps in the south, the hill ranges and plains in the north, to the forested areas and river valleys in the central part. The country’s largest and most important river is the Rhine.

Population

History

The country was divided into East and West Germany after World War II, but was reunified in 1990.

The country is also known for its strong commitment to renewable energy and environmental sustainability.

Germany has made significant contributions to the world of arts and sciences. The country is known for its classical music, with composers such as Bach, Beethoven, and Mozart. Germany is also famous for its philosophers, including Kant, Nietzsche, and Marx. The country celebrates a number of festivals throughout the year, the most famous of which is Oktoberfest.
